Title: A Scenario Modeling Language for Model Driven Systems-of-Systems Security

Subject
Systems-of-Systems (SoS) are large-scale concurrent and distributed systems composed of complex systems (Jamshidi, 2008), e.g. Internet of Things, smart grids, smart cities, smart transportation. Traditionally, security deals with confidentiality, integrity and availability of data (Avizienis, 2004). If security were taken into consideration only at the end of the SoS development life-cycle, all posterior modifications and analysis would be very expensive. That is why security has to be taken into account as soon as possible in the design of an SoS (Lukasik, 2013). For this, our team proposed a new modeling language, based on SysML, called SoSSec (ElHachem, 2017), (ElHachem, 2016), to model, simulate and predict SoS security.

This language comprises three components: an abstract syntax/MetaModel (set of concepts and relations), a graphical concrete syntax (set of predefined icons) and semantics/meaning (inherited from Multi-Agent Systems – MAS). SoSSec is used to describe an SoS secure model, which is then simulated using MAS techniques. The software tools related to these components have already been defined, such as the graphical editor as an extension of Papyrus, the code generation/model transformations towards MAS, the JADE MAS simulation platform and extension.

We plan to further extend SoSSec, with a Scenario Modeling Language, so as to describe interactions between the constituent systems of an SoS and elements from their environment (Falkner, 2013).

Expected Contributions
Your expected contributions are the following:
1. You will contribute to extending the model transformations rules and the JADE MAS platform.
2. You will contribute to conceiving and developing the module that will analyze the MAS simulation results. This module may be based on BigData analysis.
3. You will apply the Scenario Modeling Language on a case study.

Required Competencies
The candidate will have solid knowledge of the Java programming language.
It is desirable that the candidate have knowledge of Model Driven Engineering and/or database/BigData conception and analysis or be willing to learn these technologies in short time. It is highly desirable that the candidate be currently enrolled in a Research Masters or equivalent.

Compensation
Your work will be rewarded by a gratification according to the French laws, which is around 500 euros/month. To enable you to receive this gratification, it is imperative that you be enrolled as a student. Any additional costs, related to relocation from another country for example, are at your expense.

Procedure and Time-line
1. You send CV, grades for university and masters courses (grades are imperative to be considered for the position), recommendation letters and any other documents you feel may be useful at BOTH supervisors by e-mail;
2. The consideration of complete applications will begin November 20, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled;
3. Selected candidates will be invited to Skype interviews;
4. The internship will start in March 2018 and last until July 2018.
