AMERICAN UNIVERSITY MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

American University is a private doctoral institution situated in a residential neighborhood of northwest Washington, D.C.

Their student body is cosmopolitan and globally diverse, with all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 139 countries represented. Seven percent of undergraduates and 11 percent of graduate students are international.
The university’s mission is carried out by 798 full-time faculty and 1,525 full-time staff. Ninety-four percent of full-time faculty holds the highest degree in their field. Among 565 adjunct faculty are policy makers, diplomats, journalists, artists, writers, scientists, and business leaders.

American University offers merit-based scholarships for international students. Scholarships are highly competitive and based on a combination of outstanding academic achievement, excellent communication skills in English, leadership, volunteerism, and community service. Scholarships range from U.S. $6,000 to U.S. $27,000 per academic year. 
These funds are renewable for all four years of study based on successful continued academic performance.

Transfer students are considered for merit awards based upon eligible transfer coursework from an accredited institution. 
ESL courses do not factor into transfer GPA calculations for transfer merit awards.

THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY'S CHANCELLOR NON-RESIDENT AWARD

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is a urban public institution founded in 1929. At UMKC, students can choose from more than 120 academic programs and majors, including master’s degrees from the H.W. Bloch School of Business & Public Administration and the schools of medicine, computing and engineering, and education.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City offers The Chancellors’s Non-Resident Award to outstanding international undergraduate and graduate applicants who intend to enroll in degree programs in the College of Arts & Sciences, Henry W. Bloch School of Management, Conservatory of Music, and the School of Education and School of Pharmacy each academic year. The Chancellor's Non-Resident Award is a renewable award that will cover the difference between Missouri Resident and Non-Resident fees, without a limit on the number of credit hours taken.

There are three award amounts—$3,000, $4,000 and $5,000—that are awarded for the first year of study only, and the amount of the award is determined by a student’s academic achievement and test scores. 
Students must be an applicant for one of the following programs: MBA, East Asian and Pacific Rim Studies, Global Development and Peace, Global Media and Communication Studies,and a master's level program in the School of Engineering.

The University of Michigan-Flint offers the Ralph M. and Emmalyn E. Freeman International Graduate Student Scholarship. 
Applicants must be admitted to a University of Michigan-Flint graduate program, completed all prerequisite courses, and earned a minimum of twelve (12) hours of graduate credit at the University of Michigan-Flint. 
Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average as a UM-Flint graduate student.
