Autonomy Arrangements in the World
We are glad to announce the launch of the www.world-autonomies.info website within the framework of the "Autonomy Arrangements in the World" (AAW) project.
The main aim of the AAW project is to create a comprehensive online collection of autonomy case studies, which could become a helpful tool for better understanding the conceptual and empirical issues and challenges related to autonomies. By adopting a more facts-based approach to autonomy, we hope to provide the ground for a more informed assessment of the advantages and shortcomings of the existing autonomy arrangements, and explore the discrepancies between theory and practice. Currently the website contains four cases two territorial autonomies and two non-territorial arrangements. However, with a major effort in the coming months we intend to add a critical mass of new case studies and then to regularly enlarge the online compendium with 2-4 new cases per year.
Moreover, the authors are expected to periodically update the existing case studies.
The AAW project is the result of a partnership between EURAC's Institute for Minority Rights and Institute for Studies on Federalism and Regionalism (Italy), the Babes-Bolyai University's Center for the Study of Democracy (Romania) and the European Center for Minority Issues (Germany).
